We are a nation that has a government—not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the Earth. Our government has no power except that granted it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed. --- Ronald Reagan

MARTY ON THE ISSUES

EDUCATION

Educational decisions should be made by parents at the local level, not by bureaucrats in Washington. The state of Georgia must fight to keep local control of our education system while maintaining high standards. The best government is the government closest to the people.

TAXES

John Marshall said, "the power to tax is the power to destroy".  We must limit the government’s power to tax us at every level. As your State Senator, I will work to abolish the state income tax and property tax on senior citizens. People who have worked a lifetime to pay for their homes should not lose those homes because they cannot pay increasing property taxes.

SECOND AMENDMENT

We must understand that the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting and everything to do with the rights of the people to protect themselves. As a lifetime member of the NRA, I have always worked diligently to preserve our 2nd Amendment rights and will continue to do so.

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM

Religous freedom is core to our identity as Americans. Religious freedom is rightfully called our Nation's "First Freedom." I am proud to have been the lead sponsor of Georgia's Religous Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).

LIFE

I believe that every life is a precious gift from God and must be defended - from the moment of conception to the time of natural death. This is a national issue and requires our nation to change its heart about the life of the unborn. We must pass laws to protect the life of innocent children that are living in their mother’s womb.

TENTH AMENDMENT

I am running for one reason, and one reason only; to preserve the liberty that our nation was founded on for my children and grandchildren. We must regain the rights for the state of Georgia that are laid out in the 10th Amendment and remind the Federal government that we created them, they did not create us.
